Please check out the Whole30 5.0 site for a detailed explanation of the program.
In a nutshell, I am eating a very "purist" paleo diet for 30 days to help heal my body. I have been eating a lot of processed, non-organic, non-pastured foods for the last month or so due to a number of high-stress situations in my life. I've managed to stay gluten free, but I've let a lot of other things slide, and I can feel myself losing the vitality that I had when I was strictly primal. So, I've decided to hit the reset button on my health and do a Whole30!
What's allowed: pastured/grass-fed/wild-caught meat, fish, eggs, and fowl, vegetables, low-sugar fruit, low-omega-6 nuts and seeds.
What's not allowed: grains, legumes, sweeteners of any kind (other than a small amount of added fruit juice), dairy (other than pastured ghee), or alcohol.
I am keeping a blog during my Whole30 to help me keep track of what I am eating and how active I am. If anyone else ends up reading it and is inspired to improve their health, that's great too!
